Did you know that hospitals in NYC are trying a "smart card," which holds 30 pages of medical records. A patient carries it with them and if the patient is ever hospitalized the medical personel have information they need. This would be especially helpful, not to mention possibly a lifesaver, if you were alone, unconscious or incoherent when admitted.
It sounds like a wonderful idea but there is one drawback that I see. If the card should get into the hands of a person that the patient does not want his/her records to know about, that could be a privacy problem or even identity theft! I hate to be paranois, maybe I've been reading too many novels and watching too much news!
